Thanked: 28Pay it forward does exist!
I've heard of it, and understand the concept but until a couple of weeks ago I haven't seen it in practice. After acquiring a beautiful brush from walleyeman I started talking about using the lathe. I explained to him that tool rest I had was too tall for using my carbide tipped chisels and asked him if he could make one. After some talking and a couple of very crude drawings he had one made up and ready to ship. I asked this fine gentleman what I owed him and he told me not to worry, but that he believed in "pay it forward". I almost fell over having grown up in such a profit driven world I never expected it. A little long winded but wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to the walleyeman!

Thanked: 2027Thats wonderfull, and a fantastic brush to boot.
Just an FYI for anyone going to carbide lathe tools, the cutting edge is far higher than a traditional Gouge so mods almost always have to be made to the toolpost.CAUTION

Very cool, Ray, to hook Scott up! Knowing both of you as I do, good things will come for both of you.
I suppose I am on a "feely good" kick, But we should appreciate what we do for one another and help out as we can with our skills!
BTW, I have held that particular brush in hand. I must say nothing is more solid! Nice!
Ray strikes again! You will have to go to a bar and start a fight to make up for all your kind help, Ray!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Scott, thanks for the mention. You are very welcome!
You make me to be larger than life. I'm only 5' 13" tall.
Paying forward is not something that came natural to me. It was something I needed to see done a couple times before realizing that it was real.
I had to be taught so to speak. Shown if you will. Then it made sense!
The world needs more pay it forward than pay it me. Unfortunately it made more sense the older I got.
I hope that by paying forward that maybe some day I may need some help or something. Maybe something will happen or someone may step forward to help. But most of all maybe someone will see things like this and remember. Maybe they will act by example.
It just seems to be the right thing to do! sometimes you see results that are very gratifying sometimes not.
Hopefully my children see this in me and will adopt the same mantra.
Sorry for being long winded. Just thought it needed to be said!!
