Thanked: 1184I thought there was another thread about this upgraded law on ivory. At any rate, I posted this article here because I could find the other discussion. Smugglers of illegal elephant ivory find easy entry at U.S. ports
So, in hindsight we may have been using more illegal ivory than we thought.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Good call, Pups. I had wondered how some can buy slabs of 'legal' ivory with which to make things. How much 100 year old bulk, pristine stuff is actually out there? Only ivory I have bought is attached to razors which are at least 100 years old.
I would be leery of 'stocking up' on bulk ivory as some do. The prison sentences seem a joke for what these smugglers are caught doing, to me. Still, who wants to go to prison for 2 or 3 years? Indeed, who would want to contribute to this?"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
