Thank you for your speedy replies. Being a newbie here I am grateful for the feedback.

I have thought of trying myself. I got a second one on the way and have thought about trying to dissect it and see if I could just swap the puck as you say. I look forward to more replies and I will start scouring the resources here for more.

The HMW knots from TGN are super soft. I've been using one for a year now and love it. Much softer than the silvertip grade As, and super silvertips. But it's pricey, and sizes are limited to 20mm, 22mm, and 24mm.

Edit, just read your specs. A 20mm would work.

Thanks for the encouragement. After researching I see that it will not be that difficult to remove & replace the knot. The HMW knots from TGN have captured my attention. I see where I could use a little silicone for temporary set to make sure all is right before a permanent set.

My second brush came today. Now to start prepping this puppy.

One thing I could not find information on is; are the knots sizes (like from TGN) accurate? 22 is usually 22mm or do they drift up & down a few 10ths? I'm going to measure brush hole after prep and go from there or do I need a make any allowances?

If this works out good I've had the thought of re-knotting another one. A nice softy for shaving everyday and a courser one for that four day old heavy beard.

    Thanks again everyone.

I just replaced a knot that was in real bad shape in a vintage klenzo handle. The knot size measured 20mm. The badger grade I wanted didn't offer a 20mm knot. I went with pixels advice an used an 18mm set around 50mm loft. Worked great. Nice little brush for not a ton of cash. As far as the knot sizes go TGN does state that they vary 1/2 mm up or down if my memory serves correct. Good Luck

Is no need to worry about the bore size,2mm less will not be a problem,is the hair above the plug that centers the knot, not the the epoxy plug.

You might try that brush for a while and beat upon it unmercifully! It could break in and get softer. They often do! JMO

I'm keeping one original and will continue to beat it up in hopes it might soften a bit. It was inexpensive so I didn't have big expectation with the bristles. It is the handle I'm after.

    Again thanks for the replies.
