Thanked: 2284Fire wood, brush and bowl.
My Sister has a new man in her life and this time I think she found a keeper. His birthday is coming soon, and she asked me to make him a shave brush with a matching bowl. It Just so happened that Dad still had some fire wood (Maple) that him and I set aside to turn, from the house my sister and I grew up in. They were nice, solid pieces without any checks or splits. Also with some nice spalting going through them. I had roughed turned the one piece 17 years ago, to make sure it was free of any checks, which is what you see in the first picture.
The brush is a 20mm, Finest 2 band set to a loft of 48mm. Should chew up hard soaps no problem. The finish is CA on both the brush and bowl. Here it is.

Nice. Now that's truly custom made.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Damn it HARRYWALLY, ya did it again! Almost makes me want to look for a good woman who understands me and would want me to have something like that despite my age. I have to think positive, think Viagra.

What an awesome way to welcome the guy into your family. That's always an insecure place to be, and some male family members are real jerks about it. Very classy!

Very nice work. Spalted maple always has such great grain.
I like the thin walls on the bowl as well.
