Question Help identifying an old brush maker & restoration tips

Need help please identifying an old brush maker if possible.

It is a wooden handle of maple with a ring of horn (I think?). The brush handle has a horizontal diamond logo with upper case "P" inside the diamond.

On another note what's a good way to clean the horn? I was thinking of sanding the horn a little with really fine grit to try and smooth its surface. Or would I do better sealing the horn in marine grade varithane along with the handle? The varithane would help bring out the grain in the horn and be protected too..

    Thanks in advance.

it looks like a home-made brush to me.

For horn a little sanding and you can use a cape cod polishing cloth to shine it up.

Wish I could help with the identification but the only thing that came to mind was that the logo reminded me of the N M Paterson and Sons logo Paterson Archives | Manitoba Grain Elevators . I don't really think there is a connection just that it popped into my head. Good luck with the restore.

    Default completed brush #4

The horn came out nice with a deep translucent gloss and is now sealed and protected. I added a HMW 22 x 50 knot. Still trying to reference the maker & logo.
