Only down side to an oil finish is there maintenance. Some time in the future you will need to re apply the oil. Don't get me wrong, oil finish is super pretty and I like it a lot. That being said, CA or poly can be applied and you never have to worry about it ever again.

Untill the CA starts to Crack,wood expands and contracts,looks nice from the gitgo Tho.

Love it Harry. Really original looking.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. But, just like every other finish out there, if the wood is dry, and prep'd properly, it should give any clear coating finish a better chance of lasting longer.
