I have picked up a lathe with a bunch of chucks and tools for $100 a couple of times. I flip on craigslist/kijiji so I just wait and watch.

You can have both. Just wait for the right moment and be the first to offer cash and be there the same day.

Craftsman wood lathe, mounted on table with drawers. Includes turning tools.

You could get a whole setup for $140.

Addition. Beside you might not like turning.

I was lucky when I found my delta shopmaster midi lathe. It was brand new, along with a full set of new chisels as well. Paid half of what it was worth.

Like Pixel said, it's one thing I don't think I could ever give up. That little lathe makes me smile.
