Horn tip - 1st brush attempt
Gday all,
got some 20*60mm (65 including base) best badger knots to have a play with before Christmas,
well with it bucketing down rain today (looking at 100mm today at least) I headed to the shed for a play and decided to give a brush a go and made this up.
it is a cow horn tip breed unknown - as I have about 20 different tips from my Son in-law
used by Dremel to hollow out the cavity to suit
haven't set the brush yet but I have a range from 53mm to the full 60mm,
my Edwin Jaggar best badger is set at 20*58mm which I like,
so am leaning toward about the 56mm loft mark.
not bad for a dodgey hour odd play
gave the horn a light sand and a neatsfoot oil polish up.
Current sizes as per photos are 150mm (6") overall length tip to tip with the knot sitting at a 53mm loft
Hope you enjoyLast edited by Substance; 01-21-2015 at 08:44 AM.

Looks nice. Are you going to make a stand for it as well?
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanked: 4827Because horn is so hard to capture the true colors in pictures and I can see some color changes, it leaves me curious as to how much depth it has in hand. My guess it is a nice specimen. Not your usual brush shape, I like some things a little out of the box.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

That's very cool, I've seen a few of these horn brushes and love their aesthetics!
