Very nice. I Ike the Crimson color. Curious to what or why the magnet for travel purposes? I travel almost weekly an don't have a magnet in any of my brushes. What am I missing?

Thanked: 375What your missing is a magnet.... Har har.....Well, the idea the person who commissioned it, was to be able to hang it upside down for drying purposes, while in a hotel. I haven't traveled much with my gear so I'm not going to knock the idea, it sounded good to me. Gave me some other idea's using a magnet with a shave brush, but not for the same purpose.
If anyone attempts this, I recommend four to five 1/2" magnets with 10lbs. pulling strength stacked if you want it hidden. I tried five 1/4" magnets and they weren't strong enough to be hidden, they had a 2lb. pulling strength according to the manufacture. They will work if the magnet is completely exposed though. I was probably within an 1/8" of the very bottom of the handle with the 1/2" magnets.Last edited by Trimmy72; 02-25-2015 at 09:09 AM.

Thanked: 237So the blue one was a billiard ball? How'd you do that? I'm not a turner, but hope to be soon.

Thanked: 375yes it was a billiard ball. I set the ball on my drill press the base plate has a hole that allows me to stabilize the ball while I drill out the knot hole with a Forstner bit slowly. Then I use a smaller drill bit to drill a hole for a threaded mandrel that is on my lathe. This allows me to thread the ball onto it. Then I backed it up with a piece of wood and run my tail stock center up to hold the ball. Sharp tools, and a big mess followed lol
