    Sanding. I took it down to 600 grit on the outside, 220 on the inside and the bottom.

    The knot is not yet epoxied in. I have since put a couple of coats of Danish oil on it and am contemplating the final finish. I usually use about three coats of poly, but have had some really nice results on peppermills with sealing followed by salad bowl varnish (both from General Finishes) followed by buffing and waxing with carnauba so I'm a bit torn.

    I will. The grain on this is awesome although this piece didn't have some of the copper-colored "eyes" I've seen on some other examples.
