Thanked: 2027How I remove knots
Many ways to do it,this works for me,I do quite a few reknots for members, sometimes you have to drill them out.
This works 90% of the time.
Wrap the knot with about 6 winds of Electrical tape, smash it in a vice, work it back and forth, rotate 180 degs, do the same.
The epoxy will break loose (sometimes) clean the rest of the bore out with a Dremel and sanding drum.

I hear badgers protesting and PETA coming to their defense.
Humor aside, I've always wondered how much force it took to get one out. Now I know. Thanks!Just call me Harold

It does work sometimes. I think that old glue was not epoxy? Some of it crumbles nicely. I use duct tape, but give a bit of hair between the handle and the vise. I squeezed down on one too close and the handle cracked. While it's in the vise, if it won't come out, hacksaw the hairs off close to the handle with the other hand pulling outward on the brush a bit.
Forstner bit! Cleans it out nicely."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Bill, great post, and forgive the kidding. In a way it is productive because it bumps the thread and more guys see it. I wish I had known that tape and vise method before I ruined my old Hoffritz For Cutlery brush/handle. Anyway ........ thanks for the very useful post !
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
