    Default Walking stick repurposed.

Good morning gents, just set the knot in a handle I made last night finally.
We had a brush turning GTG last weekend with a bunch of nefarious folk over. One member sacrificed an old walking staff and with all the excitement of the day I never actually had a go at it. Week later, I put my tools to the rest and my hands to the test.

Not sure what it was made from, but a nice grain. Quite dry and I needed to use a light touch to avoid tear out. Set the knot deeper than I did on any of my other attempts, thanks to Andrew for the hands on demo regarding that.
Looking forward to the test after it sets up.
    Cheers.

Nice Mike. It's always fun to try out new material. I love putting the finish on new material to see what the outcome will be. Great work!

Thanks Andrew. Was fun to turn, very dry I found. Still working up the nerve to plan my green acrylic brush. In my minds eye I see a jewelish looking handle. May try to use my indexer and a few supports to try and set facets around the perimeter after I turn it down.. At least that's what I'm thinking now.. May change..hehe
Ordered a few 23 mm silver tip knots from VS as per your suggestion so will wait for them before I make it up..
    Thanks again mate.

Those VS knot take a millennium to come in so order asap. They are super knots for the price. Using the indexer would make for some cool flat spots. I also would love to see it complete.

Mike, one of the guys said he thought the material was Hemlock. I cannot confirm that, but I like what you did with it. Let me know when the next one comes off the lathe. I would DEFINITELY be in for it, as my handle cracked wide open before I could get the CA to apply to it.

Hemlock! Very cool. Never used it before. Sounds very witchcrafty to me for some reason.
This one is yours if you want it, no charge
I see a new Halloween brush in the works maybe as well..hehe
Thanks for the nice comments on this one, sorry yours split.. It's the fifth brush I've made now and the first one that looks " right" to me..

I will gladly take it off your hands the next time we get together, but only if you let me buy a pen.
