    Default Boar Knots from TGN

TGN offers one size of banded boar knots (24) but its enclosed in a plastic sleeve.

I'd rather use a knot with out the plastic part. Anyone have any success removing this without destroying the knot?
Are there other options for Banded Boar knot w/o the plastic ring?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks

Good question....I stopped buying their banded boar knots because of this. And started using the blonde with regular base. Curious if any one removed the cup too.

    You can remove them.

Slice through them carefully with a hack saw or a hand saw so you just get through it. Stick a butter knife/ hive tool/ flat screw driver in the cut and snap it away. Should peel away quite easy if the cut is all the way through.

Also another option for banded boar knots is on ebay.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the look and feel of banded boar, just not crazy about plastic.
I'll do surgery on one and let you know how it goes.
