I work on things in waves and binges.
So now I'm finally getting back to the Certifyd #4 & #6 wood handles. Have been building up the coats of polyurethane. Last coat dried wonky on ends so will clean that up. The grain is starting to pop now with four coats of satin with lots of 600/2000 sanding between coats. Last coat will be high gloss.

Would it be worth having anything done with this? I was thinking about a thater 4125 but keep spending my brush money.

The black part seems to be just painted wood also?
I like the shape. I've done one with a hardwood ferrule that worked out great. Maple with oak ferrule.

Is the dark part a separate ferrule or is it all one piece of wood?
I used Photoshop to get a better look at photo. Looks in good shape. I would consider re-knotting as is. Or stripping what's left of the finish and redo the finish. Might have to stain/dye the dark part. Or if dark is hardwood, letting the grain show through might look great.
I like to try and make mine look new again but that is my thing.

Forgot to add, love the little knot if that's what it is.
Hope that helps some.

The black seems to be paint with some chips and a blob up near the knot. Thanks, now comes the research...
I was into making brushes about 2 years ago, gave them all away to friends and family except the first one, which is mine.Attachment 240955Attachment 240956Attachment 240957Attachment 240958
And a couple more I forgot about. ..Attachment 240961
Made a spindle out of an old water softener timer that turns at 1rpm, and I coat them with 2 part epoxy bar top resin.Attachment 240963
Sorry I don't have a good picture of it. But you get the idea.
Did you make the stand that brush is in?
If so, what type of material is holding the brush?
