    Vice if I remember correctly?

SQUEEZE the knot and it will break apart...

    I could be wrong.

There is a thread on it here somewhere?

I don't think it's a good idea - the head could easily crack.

Is this one similar to Rubberset where the head screws off. If so, take off the head - you might want to soak in some lime scale dissolver first and than apply a good squirt of thread loosener. Once the head is off wrap the old knot in tape then cut off as close to the base as you can - then drill though the base of the knot. Keep drilling more and more holes until the old epoxy/cement breaks up - working from the middle outwards. You should be able to prise the outer ring of cement using pin tip pliers. Don't be tempted to lever this off using a screwdiver - you can easily force the aliminium cap and break it.

If the head is not detachable, cut the knot as before then drill through from the top - taking the same precautions.

Use a respirator - when drilling quite a lot of dust is created.

Seeing as it is aluminum I suppose this method would work too

Some DublDuck aluminum brushes were made of wood, covered with aluminum. I would not recommend boiling, but to carefully drill the knot out.

Wrap the knot with duct tape, clamp it in vice about a 1/4 inch away rfrom the ferrel, crush it, twist and turn.

After trying several methods (a week plus in time) to remove the Rubberset 400 threaded feral/collar. Someone here suggested heating just the knot end of the threaded feral/collar in hot water. Did that and it came about in about five minutes. Expand the collar with a little heat and it breaks loose. I used hot tap water, nothing boiled.

Then I could work the knot plug from both sides.

I'd do the drilling method if it were mine. It's the safest way, to ensure no damage happens to the handle. Follow UKRobs advice and things should go well IMO.
