Default Rubberset #3 clone, strike two...

Had the pleasure of restoring a rubberset 3 in aluminum for a friend and copied all the dimensions as well as traced out the profile so I could, in theory, make my own on the lathe.
Tried in faux tortoise polyester and I couldn't control the splintering of the material at my slower speed so made something else with the remnants of the material.
So this time I stayed with wood thinking, in my comfort zone for turning and I should be in a better place to succeed.

Went with a nice hard babinga and got to the profile I wanted and just had to get the flutes run @ 60'.

Transposed my lines carefully and all that and clamped the handle in the mill to use my 7/8 round nose end mill.

Was happy until my third flute, then things went sideways fast.
Basically once I was clamped up, the height and grip changed slightly and it was impossible to recapture my centerline reference.

So I need to take a step back and figure a jig that will reference the brush centerline and still allow for rotation between the degrees and lateral movement of the mill without any drift of the brush..
    Should be easy,, lol...
Going to turn this one down and see if I can turn it into something still..
Just sharing the challenge, they aren't all wins, but they aren't complete failures if we learn something from the process..
