I was given a mini-lathe last year.

Although it's been fifty years since I last used a lathe, I was keen to have a play.
I had a nice piece of stabilised walnut, an off cut from a Purdey gunstock, so I took a chance, hoping not to cock it up.
Also using a piece of Sambur stag antler, I ended up with this.

The knot is a 25mm Manchurian Badger, set at 52mm. The walnut has had two coats of gunstock oil, (what else could I use :) ), followed by Renaissance Wax to both wood and antler.
Perfect, it certainly isn't, but OK for a first attempt, I feel.
