Thanked: 2284I've only ever used high speed steel. I have seen videos of guys turning acrylic with Carbide tools, and it seems to go well...... maybe a bit better. In the future I plan on getting at least one carbide tool. I'll only know better then.

Thanked: 2284I just like using different materials Tom. I have a hard time keeping it off the lathe when I get something new. Even something as simple as a very old piece of old growth oak found in the basement of an old restaurant.

Thanked: 2284It's a real bugger when you get going. Constantly have to push it off the work piece and as you can see, the Headstock and tail stock also get wrapped up.
