Default I liked the last one so much I made one for myself!

I liked the walnut so much on the last one, I carved the knot out of an older brush and made myself one!

Sorry I don't have any in progress pictures - I was actually going to modify the older brush and ended up ruining it completely. I was able to chuck it in the lathe and cut out the knot. I was a little aggravated but I like the new one better!

Thanks! I just got lucky with the walnut. The grain seems to swirl up the cove - very cool.

This was an unexpected project done way too late at night. I was trying to cut off the pointed end of a brush I made a while back as I prefer the flat top look. What a disaster: I couldn't effectively hold the piece with the chucks I had and it ended up moving a bit. The movement was enough to catch the tool edge and then run a nasty spiral where I didn't want it. Attempts to create a jig to hold a round piece to use a band or table saw to cut of the tip proved beyond my ability... so I just hacked of the pointy tip of the brush, chucked it in the lathe and turned the wood around the knot away until I could part the knot off (plastic wrapped and taped the knot).

So then I needed a new shaving brush so I grabbed this piece and turned this in about 15 minutes. Maybe I work better when I'm pissed off?

    Thanks for the feedback!

Very nice! I find "too late at night" results in my worst disasters - and some of my best work! Unfortunately, more of the former than the latter...
