    Default Rubberset Refinish

Hey All! I just finished this vintage rubberset last week. My first brush restore. I'm not sure of the model though if anyone can help me out on that. Was out hunting for antiques and for 10$ I figured I'd give it a go. Had some advice and tips from HarryWally and Reyes_Restores (instagram) and here it is. The handle aside from the gouges was in good shape. The gouges not sure how they were caused were hand sanded from 320-2000 grit wet-sand and then polished up. The inside in the handle was hollow so to add a bit extra weight I fit (with a little sanding) a wine bottle cork inside the hollow and it balanced out nicely. The knot was in okay shape but I wanted something a little more user friendly for me so I dropped a 24mm APShaveCo synthetic tuxedo knot in it. I've wanted to try a synthetic for a while because of all the good things I've heard. The knot is really quite amazing. Seriously soft rivalling my silvertip badger and good backbone to boot. This may be my new favourite brush.

Before and after below Thanks for looking.

    Great save Rick!
Score marks look completely gone, and the knots a great colour and shape.
Well done buddy. Happy shaves ahead!

Was reading through some of your brush restore threads and got me wanting to give it a shot. I feel I've got the brush bug now.

I'm betting those marks were from years, and years of taking it in and out of some type of holder. Only makes sense.

You did a fantastic job getting rid of them Rick. Well done, and enjoy!

Great job. It looks very nice with that knot in it. And good job getting rid of the gouges.
