    Default My Rubberset 400 Tribute

HI - I NEED to show off. This is a copy I had made after doing some drawings and finding a small machine shop that could realize what I wanted. Thoughts ?

The size is faithful to the original but the handle is solid - more weight is better in my opinion - this is about 100g or 4 oz.

It is made in 6063 aluminium alloy and machined on a CNC lathe. Anodized and polished. It took me a long time to find the right machine shop.

I think it looks rather handsome with this blond horse knot.

I like it. The vintage ones tend to sell pretty high. How was the cost of having one made compare to the vintage? Of course with brushes the knot is a big deal too, so I guess the horse is your favourite?

I have seen vintage 400's on eBay for $200 and more and some of the artisan ones for even more than that. The cost of getting this one made was not cheap, but then again I only had a very few made of these prototypes. I guess if I got thousands made it would work out cheaper... The horse hair - perhaps not my favorite but I do like it. I have a black horse hair knot in another brush of mine and just like the look of this one in the 400. The beauty of the 400 is having the option to change out ferrules with different knots.

Why did I do it - for the challenge and the fun of learning 3D and getting a machine shop to do what I want them to do.

Congrats, that was well planned and executed. A very nice looking brush to be proud of.

Very cool! Great attitude too. Some benefits go beyond the extra cost.

Holy Crap - looks like the real thing through and through, and solid, so an improvement on the original design, or at least your own "nuanced" design with makes it somewhat original, an "homage" to the original.

Spectacular job, really, beautiful looking and am very impressed...for those about to shave - we salute you! Awesome!!!
