First Brush - Progress
Ordered in a few knots from Maggards and started playing around with the lathe. Just picked out a piece of scrap to work with. I'm liking the shape, but not the open grain of the wood. Think it's red oak. If nothing else, it's good practice. I realized that I need to sharpen up my tools though!

Brush-making is fun. I enjoy it a bit myself. Well, when my hands work. Ha.

Thanked: 43I like the shape, very ergonomic.
Might be white oak which would be fine for a brush. White oak is what door sills used to be made of.
It is very durable and has a long life exposed to elements.

If you don't like the oak, you might consider ebonizing it. Oak ebonizes very well. IMO takes on a more appealing look.
