    Group,

First lesson learned. The polyester rod material for a shave brush handle is a material that easily fractures.

I went to drill the hole for the the knot, layed out ther center point, took a center punch to dimple the center point for the drill bit, and a huge chunk of material fratured off with a tap of the hammer. And there I stood with my jaw on the floor. Couldn't believe it.

So I bought a real buffalo horn rod for my next one.

I would not have had to use the drill press for this operation, but I have 4 sets of jaws for my lathe chuck, and they were all too small or too big. Otherwise I would not have had to mark the pilot and my have finished the brush handle.

    David
