My daughter stopped by our house and picked up the package from Jerry and delivered it to me this morning.

I have never seen anything so well packed. And then the razor was wrapped in VCI paper and padded and secured in a coffin box, the brush was safely stowed in a cardboard tube and the strop was gently placed in the box with no bend or wrinkle. Jerry, I didn’t think you could get that many styrofoam peanuts in such a small box!

Thanks to SRP my shave today is going to be with that beautiful Wilbert razor, the Rooney brush and the 2-part strop.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed and to Jerry for organizing the draw and packing and sending the prize.

    I will pay this forward.

I finally had a chance to use the strop, razor and brush I won. Twice, actually.

The edge on that very pretty razor was very good - thanks Jerry. My first shave with the razor was a very nice 2-pass, very close and comfortable with no burn afterwards. I don’t use aftershave, but the Thayers tells me when the razor needs some attention and this one definitely did not.

The brush worked up a thick MDC lather just face lathering. It whipped up and held more than enough lather for at least one more pass.

The strop felt so much like my Scrupleworks strop, I would not have been able to tell the difference if I had closed my eyes - something I have learned not to do while stropping.

I recently acquired one of the Pierre la Lune stones and just had to try it out on the razor for my second shave. After 15 laps under running water and 15 laps on the linen and then 30 laps on the leather, I the edge was a little bit keener and gave a bit smoother shave. Razor edge preference is very much a personal thing and I think the razor certainly suits my face.

Bottom line - I am absolutely thrilled with the set I won. Thanks again SRP and everyone who contributed to the prize package and especially to Jerry for organizing.
