Thanked: 116I just finished reading "Cheap: The High Cost of Discount Culture" during my daily commute, I'm currently looking for the next commute book. At home, I am currently reading "The Anarchist Tool Chest" and "L'art du Menuisier Tome IV"

Thanked: 37I'm reading "Just my Type: A Book about Fonts" by Simon Garfiield. Funny and full of interesting information. You do not have to be a graphic designer like me to enjoy it.

Thanked: 37Yes, a wrong choice of font for body text can be the difference between a pleasurable read and a bumpy ride on a road of letters. And sometimes its a question of choosing some font that stands up well to your media, like in the case of dailies (where I work) newsprint. A too fine or fancy font can get lost and become uncomfortable at the point sizes usually on body text (9.5 to 10.5) more or less, depending on the font.

Ones that stand out since I last posted:
Snow Crash (re-read it, love it)
Life of Pi
ReamDe (was very unimpressed, given that I really like the author)
Ready Player One
Point of Impact
Brave New World
At least I think I read those since my last post... some may be repeats. Now school is back in session, and I won't be able to read nearly as much.

I really dig Neal Stephenson's writing. ReamDe is one I've been planning to ream. Maybe I'll get a chance over the holidays.
Last night I read the poem Tam O Shanter by Robert Burns. I've been reading The Phantom Rickshaw and Other Stories by Rudyard Kipling one chapter every couple of days.

Doping is cheating, there is nothing "so called" about it. Performance enhancing drugs enhance performance beyond what is achievable through talent and fitness alone and are against the rules of every sport I follow, and rightly so. Many young aspiring athletes are pressured into doping and ruining their health in the process just to even the playing field to compete with the likes of Armstrong.
To keep my post on topic I am reading "Death Traps, The survival of an American Armoured Division in WW2" Belton Y CooperLast edited by diesel; 11-18-2014 at 01:36 PM. Reason: Keep it on topic
