I envy you guys reading these spy novels! In keeping with trying to prepare for the AP English teaching assignment I mentioned above, I just started Ellison's Invisible Man and Bronte's Wuthering Heights-both are heavy lifting, but I'm afraid my pleasure reading days are over for awhile.
I miss my Game of Thrones series!

Aloha!
I usually read three or four books at a time on my Kindle. These are a few I just finished over the holiday;
"A Year in the Merde" - Stephen Clarke
An English Businessman's account of living in doing business in France for a year. I lived in France for a few years when I was younger so I could relate to his trials and tribulations.
"Common Sense" - Thomas Paine
The foundation of what Jefferson used to draft the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Paine put forth in his writing much of the basis that these documents were built upon.

After 70 years, a reread of:
"Space Cadet" by Robert Heinlein
A 1948 guess as to when we would be having planetary colonies. And having travel speeds greater than the speed of light.
When?....about 2050

Aloha!
Outstanding. I read that book in High School.
I like some of the early Sci-Fi books and Radio Shows. I was not old enough to enjoy radio when it was popular, but thanks to the internet, I can listen to recordings of everything from Groucho Marx "You bet Your Life" to the Sci-Fi classic radio show from the 50s, "X Minus 1", both from NBC. All availalbe on Youtube, or via Amazon Music or iPhone Music. I also enjoy Big Band Jazz remotes form the 40s and 50s.
The great thing about radio is that I can READ while I listen. TV is too distracting for me to read and watch TV at the same time.

Thanked: 14If you're reading The Invisible Man, then you'll need to take a look at Dubois' The Souls of Black Folk and pay particular attention to what he calls "the color line." Both are excellent reads anyhow. Teaching AP is like any other class once you get into the content. I'm sure you'll do fine! I taught AP for a few years and loved it. I have a tendency to revisit what I like. Today I started The Ballad of Trenchmouth Taggart. It's an excellent read and quick too. I've read it three or four times, but it is well worth a read.

Good read. Vince Flynn had died while writing this book and it was finished by Kyle Mills who did a great job in my opinion.

Just finished 'Sailing Alone Around the World' by Cpt. Joshua Slocum. First dude to circumnavigate the globe in the 1890's. If you're into old timey nautical stuff it's definitely worth a read.
