Thanked: 983I just think of all the books I've gotten rid of over the years and wish I still had many of them in my possession. I refuse to get rid of books unless they are too far gone. I'm still trying to sort out several boxes of them myself. My wife wants to ditch them, and when she raises that issue, I remind her that I want to ditch all the junk she has down in the garage and around the Pool Table...End of argument

Well I had the same feeling for years about my books,,,but I had too many. Many I got for free or yard sales,, I decided that maybe someone else would enjoy a good book for a cheap price,,, sort of passing them on, so to speak. I did keep all of my Joseph Wambaugh books, my Asian books, tactical work books that might benefit my son some day.
But I had to let most of the others go.

I really like the idea in the following link. I do not endorse them and would not spend money for a sign or premade one etc. but am thinking of risking copyright infringement and building my own.

Interesting idea, I see more & more of the "free" libraries in some resturants & businesses, where you take a book off their shelves & return it later. The one you linked to I would be worried about punks putting in stuff that is not books; I'm assuming this idea is outside by the road somewhere.

I have sold some books to used book stores and understand they have to make money but it almost an insult to me what they are willing to pay. I could have a yard sale and make more but that is not my thing. I might as well give them away and if by chance someone puts another in its place I might be introduced to something good that i would never have thought of.

You have that right. Many libraries are getting rid of their books and a lot of small bookstores are going out of business. I now buy from Alibris on line and it is cheaper than buying gas to go four miles to town. One of the great Mpls used and new book stores is full up on incoming and will take no more. Garage sales around here are really book heavy. I have a good set of bookshelves on a wall and they are full of books and series that I have come to like over the years.

Does anybody think that these devices that have ebooks on them has hurt regular book sales, new & used?
