If the reader has to reread more than small sections of the work I questions the authors ability to communicate their thoughts.

Does the fault lie with you or the author that you need to reread it.

The author is trying to communicate their thoughts and in my opinion if the reader doesn't understand it is the authors issue.

Very many smart people that I know are not good teachers.
