My son was in the shop of a bicycle builder in Pittsburgh, Engin Cycles, and he said that the Bridgeport Milling Machine (which a lot of custom bike builders favor) is a machine that could build itself.....don't know if this is true or just an expression of the love for this workhorse of old.

Thanked: 2027Acutully not true, sadley I had to sell my bridgeport when we moved last year.I miss it dearly.
The lathe is called the queen of the shop for a reason, with milling attachments, you can make a mill with a lathe, but you cannot make a lathe with a mill.and you cannot make a mill without a lathe.
