Hi LX,
Because I know you personally and I think you're a nice guy I would recommend you NOT to take any job in the Dutch military. Although a career in de Dutch Marines Corps seems adventurous, that's the outside. I'm talkin from my own experience. I was a subofficer for 16 months.
Nowaday's you surely will be sent abroad for some peace mission.
For two distinct reasons I want you to reconcider:
- First of all, you are a newly wed. Think about what will happen to your relationship with your lovely wife when you were in Afghanistan for 6 months and you get back being a total different person as when you left. Believe me I know, my brother was a professional soldier for 18 years and I have seen friends of him come back from peace missions being totally different personalities.
- second, knwing you are very religious (which i admire en respect), becoming a professional killer is not in line what I believe God and the Bible teaches us. After all, a soldier (officer or not) is trained killing machine until he is dead and died for his country...
And by the way, you wear glasses, you will never be allowed to the training
(fable..not true...)
