And now for the rest of the story!!!
Some of you may have seen this thread about barbers in Ontario Canada.
http://straightrazorpalace.com/conve...o-barbers.html
I found this article a little strange but not beyond the realm of believe-ability when considered in the context of government legislation. Today was my monthly barber shop visit for a trim and invigorating discussion. I decided to ask Joe (my barber) and yes his shop is everything you'd expect a barber shop to be from an old world (Italy) trained barber open for the past 40 years. So the current status is not quite what it says in this article (again no surprise considering the state of news reporting today).
Joe's update (all supporting documentation is in place): About 5 years ago he received his barber's licence renewal certificate ($60 good for 3 years). For the first time ever it stated "hairstylist" not "barber" on the licence. Along with it came a letter saying that the trade of barber had been changed to the trade of hairstylist. That was it.
Fast forward 3 years to the next renewal and now it's $120 per year and a notice of the need for appropriate "hairstylist" education etc.....
Well the barber's grape vine (made up mostly of a fine Piedmont Barolo and a dry Tuscan Chianti) came alive with the drumbeat of dissension. En mass, scissors in hand, they cut a wide swath through their local elected representation not letting up until they shaved clean the stench of bad legislation. A fine example of democracy in action.
Recently he received a letter from the ministry responsible for trades stating that they had heard the many barbers of Ontario and are now considering a separate classification for "barbers" only in the legislation that will not require the added education. As an added benefit his newest licence renewal was included at no cost.
The letter finished with the following: Hope this meets with your approval and while we're at it can you take a little off the top?
(OK I made up this last line). Sorry couldn't resist.Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Thanked: 3223The error of their ways was appropriately pointed out to the powers that be and sanity prevailed. So much for a Marxist conspiracy plot and just another case of plain old fashioned government stupidity. Well handled by the barbers with a deserved good outcome.

Thanked: 1195Thanks for the update. Far too often news agencies report these sensational stories that whip the masses into a frenzy but we never hear about the aftermath, especially if it's positive.

Thanked: 1184Dang and I was hoping to see a bunch of legislators with long pink hair all curly on one side and shaved on the other. I guess it only took a threat :<0) I mean seriously ,,picture these guys going to get their hair cut after passing something stupid like that.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
