Taking Things to the Next Level
You know how there are some people who can take a tool, and use it to it's fullest potential?
...Maestro Livi, and how he takes traditional razors to a new level
()
....Frank Warner and his utra-modern take on straight razors
...well, here's a guy that does that with guitar playing....I've never seen anyone play a guitar like this.....
his name is Andy McKee, and the song is 'Drifting'
....enjoy

Very nice stuff. Lets hope he gets signed, he shows allot of potential.
If you like this sort of stuff, I can't help but point you towards Michael Hedges.
He was a true pioneer in guitar body percussion and tap chording, not to mention, a god at harmonics usage. Unfortunately he died at an early age. During a rainstorm, he went of a cliff on the Pacific Highway.

I recommend listening to
Baal T'shuvah
The Jealous Tunnel/About Face
Aerial Boundaries
That should give you an idea of his style/talent. It is amazing to know that he is alone on almost all of his tracks. Sounds like a couple musicians are accompanying him.
He's one of my favorites, and Taproot is among my albums.
Take care,
John

That's wonderful, Lou. Thank-you.
I had the pleasure of catching Micheal Hedges live in Toronto before he left this life. Great musician.

Ah --the magical world of alternate tunings ---but they all stand on the shoulders of Michael Hedges --it seems like every month there's a new kid on the block ---all are very good. This guy seems to have a good sense of melody which can be lacking in this style ---but thanks Lou (are you his agent?)

02-17-2007, 02:31 AM #6isn't alternate tuning, but Jimmy Page could sure take a lesson.
Of course, then there's the Chapman Stick world of standard tunings which still accomplish quite a bit. I actually saw a woman play one of those things and sing at the same time.
