Ya know, I am really unhappy this warning thread was hijacked. Could it have saved a life or a family?

We don't use much gas here in Norway, mostly it is electric heating here. Even so, a remote relative of mine and her fiancèe lost their lives due to carbon monoxide. It was winter, they were out driving and got caught in a blizzard on a mountain crossing. They had to stay the night in the car, awaiting help in the morning. It was very cold, so they kept the engine running to provide heat, but the snow packed the car well in and the exhaust got insie the car. Silent killer indeed.
Very glad you got that sorted out, Richard.

Richard,
Thank God that you were able to avoid what could have been a real tragedy, if only narrowly.
Many years ago, I had several family members in Dayton, OH who were almost overcome by CO from a faulty furnace during the winter. They had no idea what was causing their drowsiness and nausea until the Gas Company arrived and checked the house with a meter. Luckily, they survived, but it was a VERY close call.
Stay safe, my friend.

Thanked: 4942Thanks Richard,
I am a firm believer of having the furnace checked and serviced before the beginning of every cold season.

Yesterday we replaced all the batteries in the smoke & Carbon Monoxide detectors. We have each in every room.
