Thanked: 1185OMG!
You'll never guess what happened. A local politician today said something extraordinarily stupid nay, offensively racist. Fortunately her party affiliation is such that the mainstream media will be sweeping this gem under the rug. You can bet if she had an R after her name, there would be wall to wall coverage of this idiocy.

wow! such an Elitist mentality......apparently we modern workers in a "high growth environment" who can't even find jobs in the current economy wouldn't be bothered to work a job like landscaping or construction....
this bothers me, people would be happy to find ANY type of work right now...and it's a typical elitist belief that nobody besides immigrants would be bothered to work these types of jobs...
i worked landscaping for several years, as well as working as a laborer on a construction crew...

Thanked: 1185Here's the rest of the story: She's been a resident of Tampa for many, many years. When Senator Bill Young recently passed away and his seat opened up. She quickly scooped up a condo on the other side of the bay in Pinellas County so she could run for his seat. That was just for optics. Of course her family still lives in the house she owns in Tampa. She's part of the "Fundamental Transformation" cabal and would probably lick the bottom of Obama's shoes if he asked her. What's more, she's already talking about a run for governor.
As ridiculous as it sounds, I think her odds of winning are pretty good. Many uber liberal northerners, tired of ever increasing taxes and nanny state policies move to Florida to escape the out of control state and municipal taxes. I have no problem with that except for the fact that they tend to bring their voting habits with them and vote for candidates and policies that made wherever they come from unbearable. Which reminds me of a joke I heard recently: What's the difference between a yankee liberal and a python in Florida? It's legal to shoot the python. The older I get, the better I was

OMG!
That was so ignorant it actually made me laugh. As a native of Tampa who lived there from birth through high school graduation (and I know you are an old Tampa boy too 1oldGI), we both know that with that accent, she ain't from around those parts. A true Tampanian would never speak such racist words in a city that has always had essentially an Hispanic identity. Hopefully the I-4 corridor swing votes will keep this ignoramus out of office.
