CNN reported on that angle a while ago and because no one knows any better, the possibility has to remain on the table. That said, when CNN reports its too James Bond...

On a totally different aspect of this mystery I am really puzzled/annoyed at the situation with the relatives of the missing. I can understand being grief stricken especially after 11 days of no concrete answers but threatening a hunger strike is going to magically conjure up conclusive answers? Add to that the Chinese government seems to be winding up the grieving relatives even more by asserting there is more that could have been done.
After 11 days would not grief counseling be more beneficial in accepting the highly likely possibility that the passengers are dead? I am sure everyone involved in the search is trying their utmost to find a conclusive answer and a hunger strike would accomplish nothing. Yea I know, I have the sensitivity of a brick.

First of all there is no such thing as a "communications shadow." If there were, how could aircraft flying in formation communicate? If he could get close enough to another aircraft the radar tracks would merge but oh how "bitching Betty" would be screaming in their headsets and the alarms would be shrieking in both aircraft and ATC!. Doing it at night with no idea of where the other plane was heading would be crazy. Finally if the missing flight left the airway, there was no other traffic to get close to/follow.
Well, I suppose I mischaracterized that guy's theory. He thinks 370 was following another aircraft fairly closely - just closely enough to show up as a single blip on ground radar and of course the other plane's transponder would light up. One of the problems with the wild theories that 370 went to one of the stans is why was it not detected by military radar in India or in ?? and he's attempting to explain that.
And I didn't say that I believed him, simply that there's another take on the subject.

To pull this off requires closing to well under 400 yds and a few feet of altitude. Commercial aircraft enroute are kept at least 5 miles apart in trail. To pull this off would require a LONG time on the approach with minimal extra throttle for the overtake. Heck just pulling off a standard refueling join up requires quite a bit of time and that is with communication and cooperation! Then closing the last 1/4 mile seemed to take about 5 minutes in the day light and that is with the refueler well slowed at that point!
I think the alien explanation is more likely!
After listening today to all the "Explanations" I think I am moving myself over to the "Alien Abduction Camp" :p
Good lord..

Actually I have it on good authority the Rover on mars has great pictures of the plane landing there and the passengers frolicking on a hillside.
Of all the current discussions this one makes some sense.
A Startlingly Simple Theory About the Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet | Autopia | Wired.com
Lets hope he made a safe landing and we have yet to find them.
That story has so many factual errors, I wonder if the author didn't embellish his credentials!
First is he statement that a sea level take off is a long one. On the contrary, everything else being equal it is the shortest possible. Second that the first thing they would have done is pull the breakers. They would have put on oxygen masks! Even modern planes generate so much toxic smoke with a fire that useful consciousness is measured in seconds. They may have pulled breakers at some point but not before making an emergency call with flt id, position and cause of the emergency. If it was electrical in origin, the breaker was likely tripped anyway.
Then there is the attempt to explain an altitude deviation as a means to limit oxygen to the fire. Hello, its a pressurized airplane!
I have been on a plane, at altitude, with 3 foot flames in the cockpit far out over the water. The pilots declare the emergency, run the checklist and assign crew to fight the fire...everyone on oxygen and make for the closest field. You do not climb...it only takes more time to get down that way!
Just don't get me started on CNN... They'll be presenting Miss Cleo as an "aviation analyst" next...
Well let's see what comes of it but maybe, just maybe, they (the Australians) have found some wreckage in the middle of "Nowhere - South Indian Ocean."
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370: Australia checking objects possibly related to plane - World - CBC News
It'll be interesting to read the news after I wake from my sleep.
I think, in the end one of the pilots being a little man decided to cash in his chips but wanted to do it in a way so he would always be remembered and become a big man.
If it takes you 5 minutes to close to precontact from 1/4 mile , don't know if I trust the rest of your numbers!
Just kidding :)
Totally agree with your stance on this one, I used to fly AWACS and I can say that 2 radar hits and 1 IFF (transponder) hit would certainly raise a couple eyebrows in the back, and I would assume that would hold true with ground radar as well. Not a likely scenario.
They are never going to find this plane. :(
CNN Is never going to stop reporting on it either :(.
Meh. It's got to be somewhere. And latest news is they found debris that may have been a wing, and are now going to try and recover it.
I agree it's not the easiest recovery ever. They have to do an enormous amount of legwork and interviewing. But because this has gotten so much attention, they have resources at their disposal which a normal case wouldn't have gotten. I think the story will still come out.
You know... good old Rex is never good to watch before bed :(. But I'll be darned if he doesn't have a point!!

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to – The Outer Limits.
You joke... but not after watching this!! :)

Not much wrong with old Rex at all. If it isn't a tragedy like Flight 370 there is always pro sports to get wrapped up in to take your mind off things just slightly more important.

OK, now maybe we can get some results!

I just heard the report for overnight here, daylight there, that the derbies that the Satt's had spotted yielded ZERO plane parts and that they were now moving the search to another area 750 miles away..
Not to apply math where we know it doesn't apply :p but just the other day they said the search area had been downsized to about the size of New Mexico last time I drove across NM was some time ago but I am pretty sure that puppy ain't close to 750 miles in any one direction, in fact about half that sounds about right...
Just watching a discovery channel documentary about this flight. They're following the timeline of the flight, reporting what facts they have about each moment. The more I see, the more I think that either a) the pilot / crew intentionally had a hand in what happened, or b) there was a very unlikely and very catastrophic event in the cockpit.
I wonder if we'll ever know. I'm doubting they'll ever turn up the flight recorders. The sea is 4.5 km deep over there. Additionally, the bottom of the ocean there is said to have a thick layer of silt. So even if you know approximately where to look, that's still a needle in a murky haystack.
