To pull this off requires closing to well under 400 yds and a few feet of altitude. Commercial aircraft enroute are kept at least 5 miles apart in trail. To pull this off would require a LONG time on the approach with minimal extra throttle for the overtake. Heck just pulling off a standard refueling join up requires quite a bit of time and that is with communication and cooperation! Then closing the last 1/4 mile seemed to take about 5 minutes in the day light and that is with the refueler well slowed at that point!
I think the alien explanation is more likely! The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Actually I have it on good authority the Rover on mars has great pictures of the plane landing there and the passengers frolicking on a hillside.

Of all the current discussions this one makes some sense.

If it takes you 5 minutes to close to precontact from 1/4 mile , don't know if I trust the rest of your numbers!
Just kidding
Totally agree with your stance on this one, I used to fly AWACS and I can say that 2 radar hits and 1 IFF (transponder) hit would certainly raise a couple eyebrows in the back, and I would assume that would hold true with ground radar as well. Not a likely scenario.

They are never going to find this plane.
CNN Is never going to stop reporting on it either.

Meh. It's got to be somewhere. And latest news is they found debris that may have been a wing, and are now going to try and recover it.
I agree it's not the easiest recovery ever. They have to do an enormous amount of legwork and interviewing. But because this has gotten so much attention, they have resources at their disposal which a normal case wouldn't have gotten. I think the story will still come out.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
