Memory wish i could
It's been my usual 3 days and I was getting ready to shave. my problem is what razor to use because I can't remember what I use last. I've been keeping them in the safe in a plastic container and in there coffins oiled and wrapped in wax paper. I don't want to use tape on the coffins because I'm afraid the tape will damage the coffin. I can't bring myself to display them as I've seen here on the forum were I live no one would see them except a burglar . I really don't want to sound paranoid but I wouldn't want to try to replace the few good ones I 've been lucky enough to find. I try to keep the things I care about put away safe. I'm thinking about pint plastic storage bags with labels on them. I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat a me and how you remedied the problem.

I too, worry about things of value that I have. I live in the theft capital of America, South Florida.
But,,,most of my worry is unwarranted & then there are certain items that must be kept under certain conditions.
Since your talking about shaving items, IMO, you are a little over concerned.
My reasons for this statement:
burglars/thieves wouldn't know a Wade & Butcher from a potted plant. Both would get the same amount of attention if left on your kitchen table. Burglars need a fast turn around on the items they steal, they have a "plan" so to speak when they enter a home & they are on borrowed time. They seek out items that they are familiar with; that can provide that fast cash , say from a pawn shop or a fence of stolen property. Burglars can hit the usual hidden areas that we consider safe, in a matter of seconds, to a few minutes at most.
Take your W&B or Double Duck to most pawn shops & ask what they will give you for it, 90% will have no idea of it's value & will have to research it on a computer; burglars don't want the hassle of hanging there while this is being done. Your cologne collection, hone collection, strop collection is of no interest to them. Even if your display/collection is beautiful & a centerpiece in your home; it won't be, when he pulls it all out of a duffel bag/ backpack & tries to sell it. The buyer will probably just pass on the pile of shaving equipment. Few burglars are the Ebay type.
Your razors stand a greater chance of getting stolen in that safe (the one you think no one can find) when the safe's contents get raked into the duffle bag/backpack.
My razors are in rotation on the bathroon counter, each wrapped in a handkerchief , I use one, clean it, wrap it again, then put it at the back of the line,,,next shave, pick up the first in the line,,,,never use the same one day after day. My collection is kept in wood boxes that can breathe & moisture control bags in each.. Never a speck of rust in 4 years.

+1 to Hirlau.
He's right of course, it's back to people, even on this forum, puzzling over how a person could spend so much on a straight, or a DE, or a soap etc.,. I've shown some friends some of my nicest razors, and to them it's, "You don't really shave with that do you?", or, "Why would you use someone's old dirty razor?". When you try to explain the historical context, and how much a blade like that would fetch on E-Bay, the basic reaction I get from most people is to laugh in your face!! They just don't get it, nor should they.
They don't mean any disrespect, just to them it's an old, useless piece of steel, and why would you bother with it....
And to further what Hirlau mentions, storing them in a safe or secure spot basically advertises that there is some intrinsic value to them, that's why they're in there...aside from the fact that whatever's in there will just get scooped.
So keep be careful with them and keep 'em dry....happy shaving and as Lynn say's, "Have fun!"

Keep mine in a little box in my sock drawer, but only because of having a child, who has friends who come over, they are all under 10, so leaving out interesting looking stuff that is also sharp isnt sensible, otherwise they would be in a bent wire stand on a shelf, like i do in my room at work.
Why not put the coffins in a pile, and each time you return one to the safe put it at the bottom.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 375Thanks rhensley! now I'm paranoid........not that I need to worry, the vast majority of residents in the area are of retirement age
The majority of my razors are stored on a rack, out in the open in a half bath.
I would get a wall cabinet or wall mountable rack and display them, at eye level, so you can take in your collections awesomenessCHRIS

for the most part I will agree with you and phrank. the problem is my brother was robbed while he was a way on business. they took everything. when I say everything I mean they even took the front door light fixtures refrigerator his after shave etc. etc. etc.. now I know they would have probably taken the safe but who knows.

Why worry about what razor to use. Just pick one and that's it. No need to get too anal about it. Eventually you will get through your collection-rotation. Don't try too hard at this thing.
As far as robberies go it depends who is doing the robbing. if it's an addict they will take anything even if will only get a few bucks for it and they have the time. if they are strung out they don't know what they are doing anyway. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
