I believe it is July 1st 2014. If you have any ivory to get rid of now is the time. I have debated about whether to list some of my ivory scaled razors. I like 'em though and they ain't eating anything.

It seems a small penalty to those with ivory scaled razors (I have 2) when the trade has been illegal for a while I think. Unless they are traders, then, pardon my french, but that's the cost of doing business, a dirty business given where the material comes from. I see nothing in the proposed law that prohibits ownership or possession .. so all the whining must be from those who want to profit from it?

Sorry but not simpatico with anyone who thinks they are entitled somehow to trade in ivory, because the Chinese do it (if you like, move there), unless of course it was the elephant them-self.

Wanting to sell an ivory scaled razor, that is probably pre-ban , but who has documentation ?, is not 'trading in ivory.' A musician who has to worry that his guitar will be confiscated because it was made with an ivory nut or saddle, Brazilian rosewood ....... is more of the same. Certain people want to legislate everyone's morality. I think they call them 'progressives' nowadays. Used to be known as totalitarians.

Well, I dig all of my ivory. Only thing I was planning to sell in the future is a 7 day set of Brooks and Crookes.
Might have waited too late! Day late, dollar short, that's how I have always been!

Actually Jimmy you got that wrong. Progressives or Liberals are usually or historically put in the category as Communists. The right wingers are the ones who are categorized as Fascists.

I think that used to be an accurate assessment but no longer. Legalize Freedom is a slogan of libertarians. People who let you choose to go to hell in your own way. Barbara Boxer, Teddy Kennedy, Mayor Blomberg, and that lot, want to legislate what you can and cannot do. I think they would be classified as progressives ........ they stopped using liberal because of the negative connotation.

It is still legal to own Ivory, you just cannot do anything with it.
