Thanked: 0John Edwards and his wife
As some of you know, John Edwards's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer sometime during his presidential bid with John Kerry in 2004. Since then, her cancer's relapsed and metastasized. I really don't think he'll get the nomination for being a pres candidate. Instead I think he should take a break from politics and spend as much time with his wife as possible. What do you guys think?

Thanked: 1I think it is a decision they must make together (and must have). There are some people who believe in country above self and this may be a case. Personally, I would drop out (at least I believe I would). I'm sure they've had many discussions over this.
I don't like Edwards politics but I can respect the tough decisions he and his wife has had to make concerning this.

That is a difficult call to make, and it depends on their situation but most of all I think it depends on how she feels about it.
Indidentally, does anyone else find it ludicrous that Giulliane's chances have been diminished since it became public that his current wife is his third?
I mean, I would expect people to elect a leader based on how well he can (or could) run a country.
Things like
- religion
- sexual preference
- ...
should be irrelevant, no?

I think leaders certainly have to have charisma in addition to being competent and capable of fulfilling requirements of their position. As far as orientation and religion and other things go, I don't think it matters, so long as it doesn't influence your ability to work. Having said this, I don't think Giuliani having a mistress while he was separating from his wife should've been news since it was his personal life.

To be honest, how many of the stories making TV these days are considered news? How long did they drone on about Anna Nicole?
Unfortunately things like that shape most of our everyday lives. We hear things long enough and it really warps our perception of other people.
We want a clean-cut, to-the-point, confident, "perfect" model of a man to lead the country. The news zooms in and cuts to, in most cases only, the imperfections of those willing to step forward and try.Last edited by BrianB; 03-26-2007 at 02:56 PM. If his decision to keep up the campaign is to keep things as normal as possible, then great. I can see the value in that. But family always comes first. It's why I live in Utah and not Texas.

Justin,
It kills me to be this far away from catfish, hush puppies, mudbugs, gumbo, etc.!
I had relatives that lived in Port Sulphur. My aunt used to visit yearly, and man...could she whip up the Cajun food. God bless that woman!
