Victoria Day
When my wife and I were in PEI last year, a lot of stuff was closed for Victoria Day. Been wondering about it ever since... Could one of you guys north of the border enlighten me--what is this holiday?

Victoria WHAT? Ahhhh the May 2-4 long weekend when we camp, bbq and drink lots of beer It started as a celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday, but now it's more of a day of and an excuse to party here in Canada.

It's also one of the two days a year in Canada where I can mess around with fireworks and blow stuff up with few questions asked

It always occurs on the Monday closest to the 24th of May. British Empire equivalent to Washington's Birthday I guess. It's the first long weekend of the summer so it gets a lot of attention.

True story.
Flew from Rhode Island to Detroit to do some work in Windsor, CA. Got my rental car and was off towards the bridge into CA. At customs they asked me what I was going into Canada for.
Mistake #1:
Don't tell them you're going to do work!!!!!
Unfortunately, I did tell them that. They then asked why a Canadian couldn't do the work. I said, if you can find one, feel free.
Mistake #2:
Don't be even slightly sarcastic to customs agents!!!!!
They then made me wait a time (3 1/2 hours) until my office was open in Rhode Island. They then had to call them to get an explanation of what I was doing for work in Windsor to get it cleared. My office didn't know what to send, so fax after fax was sent for the nest 1 1/2. Finally, they were satisfied, and let me go.
I was very worried that the Ford plant engineers would not be happy with me and my company. I pulled into the parking lot at the Ford facility and noticed that the lot was a little 'lite' that day, maybe 5 cars in a lot that holds thousands. The security guard then informed me that it was Victoria Day, the plant was closed, have a nice day.
OK, so it was a boring story, but I hate Victoria Day now.

xman, you simply don't know enough to nitpick like you do. If perhaps you're attempting to polish up on your acting by playing someone who knows a thing or two about writing, I suggest you research your role a little better.
Any employable person will tell you that "CA," in addition to being the abbreviation for California, is the country code for Canada.
