9/11 site visit
Wife and I went to NYC for a long weekend to vista our youngest son, a Coast Guard officer stationed on Staten Island. We did the usual tourist stuff, and ate lots of great food, but the highlight (other than seeing our son for the first time in months) was our visit to the site of the Twin Towers attack and the tribute center and new construction that has happened and is in progress there.
It was very touching on one hand and enraging in another. I now know the true meaning of "Never Forget", and going through security at the airport doesn't aggravate me anymore. A few pictures are attached. They are: a heavy twisted steel support beam that was pulled from the wreckage; notes of remembrance from family to the victims and other notes; one of two pools where the foundations of the Twin Towers stood; a wall that surrounds one pool with all victim names -- white roses placed on their birthdays; the new "Freedom Tower" -- World Trade Center 1; and the future site plan.
I post these because it's hard to imagine without seeing its scale.Just call me Harold

Thanks for sharing your visit. I watched the documentary on the construction and most of the finish of the monuments. I am very glad to say that it looks like all involved in the memorial got it right, subjective I suppose, but it is very moving to me and appears to be a sincere tribute to all that was lost to us that day.
Please tell you Son thanks for serving from me the next time you talk to him.
