The pleasure boat ran aground just off the Texas coast. There was some panic because, even though the ship was close to shore, the waters were teeming with man-eating sharks. Even though it was risky, someone had to chance a swim to shore to get help. Finally an auto mechanic out of Dallas volunteered. He dove in the water and swam about 100 yards before the sharks ate him. A Baptist preacher volunteered next and he made it about 50 yards before becoming dinner for the sharks. Three other men tried it but all failed to make more than fifty yards before the sharks attacked.
When everyone was about to give up, a lawyer out of Houston dove into the water and swam safely all the way to shore. Two men who were standing on the ship deck saw it happen with their own eyes. “It’s a miracle,” one said.
“Naw it wasn’t.” countered the other.
“Well how do you explain it?” asked the first.
“simple, those sharks let the lawyer go through out of professional courtesy.”
