Im kinda glad they didnt leave, and only for the reason that it gives Quebec, Alberta more ideas about leaving Canada or Texas, Alaska from the US.

I know. Pixel said that almost all countries who tore away from their motherland are off better. Given that the US is the size of Western Europe and most states the size of a nation, by his logic the states would be better off as independent countries.
I don;t think that is true, and it would also greatly reduce the power and invluence of the US because you'd no longer be a single country with a single forgeir policy and big military, you'd become a lot of small nation states with a fragmented approach to everything.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

The biggest push is not so much to secede for the "Union" but more to separate some of the states especially some of the big western states into 2 states.. In general this is split between Urban and Rural areas but not always..
Certain States have legitimate gripes and don't feel they are being fairly represented the way things are now, our Neighbor to the west WA is a good example. There are extreme differences between King county (Seattle) and most of the rest of WA state..
This is not Unprecedented in the US, but perhaps there will be other solutions..
The other issue in the Western states is land ownership, this is getting to be more and more of a hot button issue, ID politicians are pushing harder and harder to take back governing of state lands from the Fed..
Certain things just make no sense,,
Behind the ridge that my place sits on is a 30,000 acre Wildlife refuge, that was set aside for the "Rare and Elusive" Woodland Caribou 15 years ago they estimated there were 25 to 30 animals that ranged in there.. They haven't been spotted in years, some people that live there doubt they ever existed at all and that some lost Canadian Caribou made there way south for vacation and have long since headed back home..
But now the Environmentalists want the Feds to increase the "No Use" area to 50,000 acres, they actually stand a chance of winning that fight...
These are just some of the things we are seeing on the State Election platforms now..
Sometimes you have to ask why things are the way there are ??? who drew the lines and why.. The Middle East is a perfect example.
Years ago there was a story I read about a College Campus here in the US that solved a hard problem with a simple solution.. They were replacing Grass / Sod at a stupid rate, because the students would not stay on the sidewalks..
Solution... They pulled the sidewalks up and sodded everything,, Two years later they covered the well worn paths in the grass with the sidewalks and solved the problems..
Perhaps the borders should be reconsideredLast edited by gssixgun; 09-23-2014 at 08:07 AM.
