I thought this was going to be about scuttles.
Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, now you have a motivated idiot.

Yes, the Occupy folks here in Toronto, littering huge areas, raging against the man with their iPhones and Starbucks latte's...don't think most of them really knew anything about it other that what their Twitter accounts we're trending and it was a hip place to be...up until it wasn't.
Lot's of bo-hunks getting into the cops faces, faces covered, yelling and throwing stuff at the cops, and unquestionably shocked and dismayed when they got arrested and pepper sprayed...you go looking for trouble, chances are you'll find it.

Hirlau says it very well if you have to be near the events.
My take on such:
Do what the officer says and do it quickly.
Don't fight with a cop. Officers know how to fight and are equipped to do so.
When all else fails, flop on the ground and cover your head.

Thanked: 3228Since you can't do the only sensible thing when the G20 hit your area, leave town for the duration of their stay, you have my deepest sympathies. The alternative is to hold your nose and put up with the BS from both sides. Personally, If I never see another G20 dog and pony show hosted in Canada again it won't be soon enough for me.

Thanked: 1587Well, didn't know that about kites. I thought it might have been the string, you know, for garrotting.
Thanks for the tips guys.

LOL - you think that was fun! In the 80's, we had Thatcher, Mulroney and Reagan land in my back yard, and I mean in my back yard. There was a summit, and they hosted a lunch or something at, The Toronto Hunt Club, they all landed by helicopter, and the entire perimeter, (including my back yard fence) was lined and patrolled by US Marines, British soldiers, and Canadian soldiers.
They wouldn't speak to you or even acknowledge you, but it was very, very cool to see all the activity.
One thing I can say with 100% certainty, if anyone tried any shite disturbing, think they would have had a bag over their head and a pair of steel bracelets fitted quite promptly!

Thanked: 3228Unfortunately where do you draw the line between lawful protesting and the real shite disturbers. At the G20 summit it looked a whole lot like everyone gets it and let God sort it out later. Everyone likes to see shite disturbers handled in that manner until they are mistaken for one themselves. Then it seems just a tad heavy handed.
In my view these G20 meetings in large metropolitan areas are simply not worth the expense incurred in hosting them, the very real potential for property damage and the ridiculous inconvenience cause to the population of the metropolitan area.
