    Default Pastor Nailed it....

My pastor does a great job, but one Sunday a few weeks back he really nailed it. He was talking in the first part of the sermon about how men have an affection for things they have made. Something can be substandard and not that great but a man will find love for it in his heart simply because he made it with his own hands. For me, this rings so very, very true.

    Who can relate?

Who can back to cartridges after you have sharpened the blade yourself? Or write with a bic or even a montblanc after you have turned your own pen?

This affection I think is what separates the makers from the golfers. (nothing wrong with the golfers).

I can relate - but here lately, I have to love that which I buy. Moreover, at times I have to whore out my passions to lesser things, in the effort to find more time.

In other words - I don't have the time to make my own quills anymore, so I'll buy myself a nice one to love... but if I lose it, I'll grab the closest Bic and finish the work at hand.

    Know what I mean?

Oh yeah. Started a new job recently. Same company, took a kinda down kinda lateral. It's SO in my sweet spot, and I'm tearing it up. BUT, it saps all my strength, and the kids are getting more demanding. So the making is slowing down, a lot. I know whatcha mean....
