Powerful people....and their husbands !!
Being an Australian, I sometimes wonder who holds the power in the U.S.A.
I hear a lot about "Two for the price of one".
I'm NOT trying to cause any trouble here, but would like my fellow forumites to
explain the ( at least in my eyes) increasing power of the "First Lady".
These guys have done stirling work for our world, but their wives have increasingly
been part of that success (or failure ?)....
Please let me know your opinions

We have the rise of feminism opening doors that were closed to women 50 years ago. Consider the news media going 24/7, an insatiable beast. They need to make something out of nothing if it will fill space. Hence they create celebrities in a few news cycles. In terms of politics, Rudyard Kipling's poem comes to mind, "The female of the species is deadlier than the male." Just IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It's no secret that women rule the roost in many if not most households in the western world. It's just not talked about that much mostly jokes and snide remarks from folks.
Women have played a part in their husbands decisions as Presidents since the earliest days of the Republic and that's well known too. I mean, if Reagan didn't make a decision without his Astrologer. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 20I find this post to be so very funny. I am good friends with a few Australians, and love to watch their family interaction. Their tough Mocho attitude goes right out the door when their wife or mother bark. As for here in the States, I think the statement "Behind every strong man is a stronger woman," applys. The presidents from Ronnie on had wife's that I think were much smarter then their husbands. The unfortunate part is that their intelligence has not been utilized but has always been scrutinized.
