Default What is right with America?

After 22 pages of "What is wrong with America?", I thought it would be nice to have the flip side!

I'll start with the obvious generalization: Americans aren't as afraid of failure as Europeans. It may sound stupid, but it has a huge impact on entrepreneurship.

Despite "what is wrong" we keep moving forward. Having kids, going to work, helping your friends and family. I am a big believer that "America" (and the rest of the world for that matter) is no better or worse off than it has been. There are plenty of wonderful, and terrible, things that happen everyday. Just like yesterday, last year, and last century. I think most people just can't adjust to it being different than when they grew up or what they think it should be.

America is always a work in progress. We have in the past, and will continue to provide opportunities for human beings seeking shelter from the world's storms of hunger, violence and untenable discrimination in various forms.

+1. It seems that we rarely encounter positive news in our media even though it happens abundantly everyday. The silent couple that donates $10,000 to a transitional house for men. The company that freely gives to orphaned children with no strings attached (not even for a tax break), the elderly man who sells his home $30,000 below fair market value to give a new family a chance. There are acts of kindness, generosity, and hope all around us but they are rarely reported. The news is full of natural disasters, robbery, wars, and death. We then perpetuate this by regurgitating only the negative and it becomes a mind set and questions are asked "what is wrong with people today?" America is full of good people that are family orientated and community orientated that would give the shirt off their backs for others. When the chips are down this is a great place to live. I don't believe we are any better or worse than other countries though. I believe Europe and the UK are great places with great people. I love this country because this is where I am from and where my ancestors bones are buried and where mine will be buried someday. It's a good place.

On the whole, super nice people, great history in everything from music, to literature, to the triumph of the human spirit, to innovation, to hard work, to accountability and generally if bad stuff happens, the American's will be there to help for the simple sake of it being the right thing to do. They put their good stuff and their bad stuff for everyone to see, and they love the taste of Silver at Olympic Hockey.....
