Carl's Barber Shop, A Good Time!
Yesterday I decided to try a different barber shop. I have used the same one for the last 10 years with my son. The old shop was a few blocks away & the price was good., but a few things always bothered me. I won't go into them out of respect for the young man who owns it & the young man who's cuts our hair; they both have been nice to me. The bottom line is I never looked forward to going there. It was like shaving used to be, a hassle/burden.
I GOOGLED barber shops in my county & one in particular had great reviews. It was Carl's Barber shop in Weston, Florida.
We headed there & what a great place. It has an Old School theme & the barbers are professional & as friendly as they can be. They have quite a selection of shaving creams, aftershaves,,, both Old School & some of the stuff young kids use.
I got my hair cut by a man from Italy, who has been cutting hair for 60 years. He started out at age 12 years. We talked about straight razors & his favorite, before the State mandated straights with disposable blades, was Puma. He stated that he kept a rotation of 12 to 15 on hand, he indicated that his barber hone was a Dubl Duck, he believes & he showed me the old strop he still had , which had Illinois stamped on it, leather & canvas.
Now I enjoy getting a haircut & have another place to hang out,,,,
I picked up a couple of items, Clubman, of course,,,
Thank you for looking,,,,,,,,,,,,

Very nice, great atmosphere and a lovely "refuge" from all those hair salons.

Interesting place but somehow the big screen TVs on the walls don't go with all the nostalgia.

Agreed,,, but he's got an large clientèle of all ages, at least 4 young kids showed up while I was there & on the weekend it is standing room only.
It's gotten to be a give & take world,,,,

That is an awesome looking place, congrats!!! I'm envious!
All the old shops are gone where I live....small town. But just across the river in a smaller town I found a little one seater barbershop run by an old Marine. Love going there, but don't mumble when talking to him. If he thinks you said high and tight....well, you'll come out looking like an onion with a mat on top.
