I've heard about that happening on more than one occasion.

Thanked: 3227If you put a loaded, cocked and safety off rifle in a vehicle you are sorta asking for that kind of thing to happen. Not really a freak accident if you look at it that way. More like self inflicted with the aid of a dog.

It's a proof that guns don't shoot people, dogs do.
It's too inane to qualify for a Darwin award, though it had the potential to aid the selection.

Just goes to show that stupid people shouldn't be allowed guns.

had a friend goose hunting a pit blind , the gun racks in the pit are designed to keep the barrel straight up and above the head of the hunter .. anyway he had a "new guy" hunting with the group and after shooting 2 shots he but his gun in the holder and some way or another as the dog jumped up to exit the bit a toe nail or something hit the trigger and the gun went off as it fell .. lucky his pit was designed to keep the barrels up and in a safe direction ... still lucky .. it can only take 1 safety mishap to take a life ..

Maybe 40 years ago, in Miami, it was dove hunting season and a guy was taking a pickup truck out to a field to hunt. One of the men riding in the bed of the truck had a side by side double barrel 12 gauge.
When the truck got the the destination he stepped over the tail gate and put a foot on the step bumper, swung the other leg over and jumped off. The butt of the shotgun hit the step bumper and discharged into his head. You can't be too careful. It was fatal BTW.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
