S-weet! I'm planning on putting on that many miles just this summer lol. You probably got it dirt-cheap as you're in the States. Here, they hold their value like crazy. My friend bought an 04 CBR600RR for $7500 when new ones start at like 10-11k.
As for your buddy... Street bikes aren't for everyone. More fun and cheaper deals for us

Speaking of new bikes, my brother just added a 2007 KTM Superduke to my garage:

It's a nice complement to my 2006 Triumph Speed Triple:

I do most of my shopping at a local KTM dealership. Both rides are lovely, almost make me want to get rid of my cage but then I remember that I live in Canada and not California lol.

Today they finally issued me my M2 license, which allows me to ride at night, on the highways and to take passengers (that part will probably have to wait until next season). Now I can go on some long distance rides
Edit: A pic from Saturday's ride that involved rain and inadvertently ending up on a 10km stretch of dirt/gravel road lol

Edit#2: The mesh jacket was on the seat and the gloves were in the lid.. Wearing full protection even in 30 degree weather

    Are you married??

If not here are two points for you to consider.
I use myself as the example not to brag but rather as eyewitness testimony that I have found these two things to be true.

    Point #1
    The best abs win. Period.

I used to be huge but girls still thought the dude pencil neck with the great abs was sexier. Apparently 21 inch biceps and massive but not cut abs are no match for 13 inch biceps and really nice abs.

    Point #2
A female passenger has to put her arms around your waist to hang on.

So I worked REALLY hard on my abs for a couple of months and I swear that you can give a girl a ride and within 10 mins she will be holding on "extra tight"
and after 20 mins (and some curves) she was nearly dry humping the seat.

These are just things to consider if you aren't married.

    Oh, one more.

A girl at the bus stop DEFINITELY needs a ride (if she's hot).

    Go get em tiger !!!

    I want my bike back.

Ok, screw the razors, I'm saving up for a bike !! and maybe a DEvorce

If you don't have the abs, and don't feel like working to get them (I mean working out or a lipo) - don't despair. Girls also like smart and funny guys who look good...

    Cheers

I've noticed that myself a few times... Quick wit, blue eyes and an IDGAFF attitude work wonders
